Also referred to as Beebalm, Wild Bergamot is a highly popular native wildflower in the mint family. This perennial is widely used as an ornamental plant, for herbs & medicine, and for attracting pollinators. Popular human uses include processing the plant into a medicinal tea or oil, using as an edible herb to add flavor to cuisine, and more. The flavor of Wild Bergamot has been described as minty, spicy, and oregano-like, earning this plant a nickname of “Wild Oregano”. Since Wild Bergamot’s flowers and foliage are pleasantly fragrant, this also makes them great cut flowers. This plant’s summer blooms are numerous, generally lavender-colored, and attract a large diverse amount of pollinators.
