obedient plant
Physostegia virginiana
Also known as False Dragonhead, this native perennial in the mint family grows to around 3 feet tall and features unique tubular pink-to-purplish flowers which bloom from around July to October. Obedient Plants are invaluable for pollinators due to their long bloom times. They are also useful for erosion control and soil stabilization. Obedient Plants can form clumps by spreading underground using rhizomes and can be a good choice to densely fill in a small area that would otherwise be full of invasive plants. This plant earned its name due to the ability of its flowers to stay in the same position for long periods of time, after being bent or tilted.
